Updated: Oct 27, 2021

Another Grill The Marketer is in the books and this one was extra special!

We put on our usual live Q&A session, where Carma and myself plus our awesome guest marketers answer your questions. No pitches, no up-sells and no PowerPoint presentations. Just your marketing questions answered.

We also gave awards for the best marketing we saw in 2020. More on the winners below.

Our awesome panel guests awards judges were the brilliant Alison Balch, Adam Barrell and Melissa Bowen (left to right below). You guys were excellent and delivered a tonne of value. Awesome stuff and thank you.

A massive thank you also to our brilliant venue, Henry Summer in Northbridge, for having us. It's an excellent spot with amazing al fresco and indoor spaces. Highly recommend!

Loved the vibe of the video. Smart and thoughtful targeting with strong situational awareness. Impressive profiling of target markets.

Best Organic Campaign 2020

Winner: Isolation Libation Tours by Hidden deTours

Agency / Organisation: Hidden deTours

Campaign: Isolation Libation Tours (ISO Tours)

Judge: Adam Barrell

Key Message: Enjoyment, and awareness of local producers in Perth making incredible product.

Bus and walking tour company Hidden deTours was brought to a screaming halt when a COVID caused lockdown hit Perth in March, 2020.

Owner operator Monique Boucher managed to get up off the canvas and turned lemons into lemonade with a fantastic, community benefiting live video campaign taking users inside the local breweries and venues in a time where no-one could leave the house. The idea was a smash hit, creating a tonne of press and social media awareness and ensuring when lockdown was over, bookings were through the roof for months.

Comments from guest judge Adam Barrell:

Throughout the COVID period in WA most brands went MIA on social. Monique decided to take a calculated risk and try something she’d never done before - and did it because she had an opportunity to help an industry where many businesses had been hurt by COVID.
The results were not only great for her business and her brand - but importantly helped generate reach, awareness and sales for the businesses she featured.
Ticked all the boxes and some.

Best Not For Profit Campaign 2020

Winner: YMCA Perth

Agency / Organisation: YMCA Perth

Campaign: YChats Podcast

Judge: Melissa Bowen

Key Message: A podcast for young people, by young people.

Developed and hosted by in-house by YMCA marketer Alana Christidis, YChats has been a massive success for the organisation, developing awareness and a dedicated audience. Y Chats has now gone national, with other state chapters jumping on the bandwagon and sharing it with their audiences. Great to see great content getting great rewards!

Best Overall Campaign 2020 - Isolation Libation Tours

We also gave out a best overall award, and Monique from Hidden deTours took out the choccies. Monique turned one of the toughest business periods into history into a defining moment for her business. Fantastic work.

Big thanks and on to 2021
